My Kids Like Animated Robin Hood Best

Posting compliments of Alex Vesner

Move over Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner! My kids think the Disney version of Robin Hood from 1973 is still the best Robin Hood movie ever!

Who can forget the music and fun of this classic animated movie? With Robin and Maid Marian as red foxes, Little John as a bear and the Sheriff of Nottingham as a mean old wolf my kids love to mimic them and re-create the scenes over and over again. We used to have an old VHS tape that was worn out, but I was able to use my satellite tv companies DVR so now we can enjoy it any time we want.

The best part of the show has to be the music. Narrated by Roger Miller as Allan a Dale the rooster, the show has the best music and funny lyrics. Every scene has a song of some kind and every one is easy to sing along with. My kids also love to see Robin Hood disguised as a stork win the archery contest even after the wily Sheriff of Nottingham cheats! The love story between Robin and Marian is cute and when they kiss, my little kids make silly faces just like the rabbits in the movie.

The reason I like Robin Hood so much is that there is no objectionable content the story is one of honor and honesty. Good wins in the end and everyone lives happily ever after.
