My Family Enjoys Horse Racing

This guest post is by Charles Davenaugh,

Springtime is great time of the year. The weather begins to get warmer, trees are in blossom and grass needs cutting. There is nothing better than relaxing after the yard work and catching some sports on satellite tv. It is the time for the Triple Crown when the finest horses compete in the Derby, Preakness and Belmont.

This has become a family tradition as each member chooses his or her top pick for the win. Several years ago, there was one horse that was very special. His race name was Afleet Alex. What made this horse so special was the little girl the horse was named after. She had cancer. Alex ran like he understood whom he was representing. The Belmont, he showed remarkable courage in recovering from a fall to win the race. No, Alex did not the Triple Crown because he lost the Derby. But will always remain a favorite competitor for the entire family.

Horse racing will always be a springtime favorite for the entire family. Each year we gather together to watch these important races featuring these marvelous animals. The combined atmosphere of home, the family can watch these races each year on television.
